Detox O'clock

Feeling sluggish, tired, perhaps foggy? Maybe even a little irritable and bloated? Wanting to find that motivation to fit back into those skinny jeans in time for winter, or feel so fabulous that a stormy day couldn't shake your incredible mood? Well, I may have the answer. I think it's time for a detox!

Sure, a detox isn't something we tend to get excited about. Celery sticks, raw vegetable juices and basically starvation come to mind. While there are detoxes out there that do only allow you to have liquids for several days, or nothing at all (so to speak), there are easy and beneficial detox diets that exist. Since my blog is dedicated to reviewing, i'm going to put a detox to the test.

Detoxification removes toxins from the body. These toxins and free radicals build up in our organs over time causing our immune systems to weaken. This in turn leads to all sorts of health problems. Toxins can also affect our brain function leading to chronic fatigue and lack of concentration. While detoxing does require some dicsipline, the benefits are said to be worth it. Increased energy and wellbeing, a positive shift in mood and an overall lighter feeling. Who doesn't want to feel on health cloud nine?

The detox i'm about to embark on is part soup detox, part my own; so don't mistake this for a nutrition plan of any sort. For the next four to five days I will eat oats soaked overnight in rice milk, with cinnamon and blueberries for breakfast. I will also cut out all caffeine and incorporate more herbal teas. For lunch and dinner I will eat vegetable soup made from vegetables (obviously), vegetable stock, organic diced tomatoes, french onion soup mix and pumkin. Morning tea and afternoon tea will consist of either a piece of fruit or some nuts. On the third of fourth day I will start to include some grilled fish with my dinner.

I am aware there are withdrawal symtoms that come with eliminating toxins from the body, so I will let you know any that I experience. After eating like it's been christmas day for the last two months, i'm hoping this will be the kick start I need to get my healthy lifestyle back on track. Stay tuned for my next post which I will put up in five days, this will be my recap and review on detoxing!
